Tottenham Hotspur have played down speculation in the German media that suggested that Julian Nagelsmann had refused an offer from the Premier League side immediately after his sacking by Bayern Munich, according to The Mirror.
German news outlet BILD claimed that Spurs had approached the former Bayern boss as a successor for the vacancy in north London, only for the Bavarian to decide he would prefer to wait until the summer to decide his next position.
His departure from Bayern Munich coincided with Antonio Conte’s own exit from Tottenham, and Nagelsmann has repeatedly been touted as the top man for the job in N17 since (Football Insider).
London rivals Chelsea are also thought to be keen on hiring Nagelsmann after parting company with Graham Potter (Fabrizio Romano).
However, both clubs have installed interim managers until the end of the season – Cristian Stellini is heading things up at Spurs, while Frank Lampard was brought back to Chelsea – with the expectation being that a more suitable long-term manager will be appointed in the summer.
Tottenham are insisting they have yet to identify their number one target to succeed Conte as the man to take the club forward.

I’ would be disappointed if Spurs did not try to hire Nagelsmann as soon as he was available, but fair play to him for not wanting to take on a new project yet. It makes sense to wait until the summer to see where each club is at and then make a decision.
Tottenham’s fate in terms of which European competition they will be playing in next season is yet to be decided and there will be obvious transfer repercussions if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
