Report: Spurs prepared for European giants to bid this much for Eriksen

Another day, another set of Christian Eriksen rumours for Tottenham Hotspur fans to deal with. The Telegraph now report that Spurs are preparing themselves for some cut-price bids from European giants in the coming weeks.

While the Premier League window for purchases shuts in three days, players can still be sold beyond August 8.

Clubs in Italy, Spain, Germany, and France can still purchase players up to September 2, so there could be some waiting on the cards until Spurs fans know if Eriksen will last the season.

It is reported that, due to Eriksen’s one year remaining on his contract, clubs may come in with bids under £50m.

Spurs are said to be working hard to bring in either Giovani Lo Celso or Bruno Fernandes as a replacement for the attacking midfielder.

Eriksen has already revealed his desire to leave North London if the right deal comes along, stating that he wants a new challenge and a step up (Ekstra Bladet).

The Dane has also arguably shown this desire on the pitch over the past couple of weeks, putting in some rather lack-lustre performances in pre-season.

Spurs Web Opinion:

At this point, I would take £40m for Eriksen and reinvest it immediately in Lo Celso or Fernandes. In truth, I would love to see Spurs show some ambition and sell Eriksen before buying both of the above stars.
