Report: Spurs prepared to make Harry Kane joint second highest-paid player in Premier League

The Telegraph have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer Harry Kane a bumper new contract worth £400,000 per week.

Bayern Munich are seemingly not prepared to give up on their pursuit of Kane but reports over the last 24 hours continue to indicate that Spurs have no intention of even entering into negotiations with the Bundesliga giants about their star striker (90 min).

In his first press conference as Tottenham boss on Monday, Ange Postecoglou admitted that he has not been given any assurances over Kane’s future by the club but he insisted that the striker is very much part of his plans (Football.London).

Last week, we relayed a report from The Guardian which claimed that Spurs are prepared to offer Kane a significant raise on his £200,000-a-week salary but the striker has no intention of signing a new deal, particularly with the transfer window still open.

Kane could become joint highest earner in England

The Telegraph have now reported that Tottenham are prepared to offer the England captain a salary of £400,000 a week if he stays at the club, which would make him the second joint-highest earner in the Premier League alongside Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (Sportrac), with Erling Haaland some considerable distance ahead on a staggering £865,000-a-week (Mirror).

However, the publication also backs up The Guardian’s claim by suggesting that there is no indication for the moment that Kane is going to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Premier League side.

The report also adds that if the 29-year-old does end up staying at Spurs, his motivations are likely going to be football related rather than financial.

I do not see why Kane would sign a new deal right now irrespective of the size of the contract that Tottenham offer. At the very least, the striker would want to wait and see how the new project under Postecoglou pans out before thinking about committing himself to the club.
