Report: Spurs prepared to make ‘important contract’ offer for Serie A player

According to CalicoMercato, Tottenham Hotspur are one of multiple clubs eyeing a move for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, who could be on the move in January.

The Serbian international has established himself as a regular in the Viola side over the last two seasons and has continued with some impressive displays for Giuseppe Iachini’s side this campaign.

Although the 23-year-old is primarily a centre-back, he has proved on many occasions that he can also do a decent job at right-back, owing to his ability to carry the ball.

An aggressive defender, Milenkovic’s current contract runs out in 2022. CalcioMercato claim that the young defender does not intend to sign a new contract which has, in turn, forced Fiorentina to lower their asking price.

The report suggests that Spurs are one of the clubs prepared to offer Milenkovic a contract but the North Londoners are said to be facing competition from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

Spurs Web Opinion

Milenkovic is a top prospect who is certainly destined for a big future but I wonder where it would leave Tanganga if we were to sign him. The Serbian has quite similar attributes to the Spurs academy graduate and is just as versatile. Perhaps Jose is looking at him as a more defensive-minded option at right-back in contrast to Matt Doherty, who likes getting forward at every opportunity. With Aurier also being heavily linked with a move away from the club, Milenkovic could be a replacement for the Ivorian.
