Report: Spurs prepared to offer Dutch international four-year deal

Inter Live have claimed that Inter Milan would be willing to cash in on Stefan de Vrij amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur in the centre-back.

De Vrij thrived in the heart of Antonio Conte’s back three at Inter, playing a key role in the club’s historic Scudetto triumph last season.

There has been plenty of speculation linking the experienced stopper with a move to Spurs since Conte’s arrival at the club.

Fc Inter News claimed last month that Tottenham have made their intentions known about landing the Dutch international when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

This has now been backed up by Inter Live, who suggest that Conte has personally requested the Spurs hierarchy to sign De Vrij.

The report further adds that Inter would be open to cashing in on the player for a fee of around €25m-€30m (£20.7m-£24.8m) and reinvesting the money into a new signing.

It is suggested that Spurs are prepared to offer De Vrij a four-year contract worth around €6.5m (£5.3m) per year.

Spurs Web Opinion

There are a couple of reasons why I think De Vrij is unlikely to be at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist.

Firstly, Dier has done really well as the central sweeper and so unless Conte plans to move the England international to the right side of the back three, De Vrij will not be a starter for us.

A left-sided centre-back to compete with Ben Davies would likely be a bigger priority for the club.

Secondly, given De Vrij’s age, he does not fit the profile of signings that Spurs usually tend to go for.
