Report: Spurs prepared to sell 23-year-old to fund move for Joachim Andersen

The Telegraph have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sell Juan Foyth on a permanent basis this summer.

Foyth has impressed during his season-long loan spell at Villarreal and has been used in a variety of roles by Unai Emery including centre-back, centre midfield and right-back.

The Argentine helped the La Liga side overcome Arsenal in the Europa League semi-final and is in a race against time to be fit for the final against Manchester United next week.

The Telegraph claim that while Villarreal have the option to sign the 23-year-old permanently for £15m, the Yellow Submarine could face competition for the Tottenham man.

Marseille are also said to be interested in Foyth’s services as they look to bolster their backline ahead of the new season.

The report reveals that Spurs are open to selling the defender who they signed from Estudiantes in 2017 and hope to use the funds raised from his sale to complete a deal for Joachim Andersen.

Spurs Web Opinion

Foyth finished the 2018-19 season very strongly and I, like many other Spurs fans, was hoping that the Argentine would have become a regular in the team last season.

However, it did not work out for the 23-year-old due to a combination of injuries and managerial change at the club. I cannot help but feel we missed a trick by not giving him a run in the side at right-back.
