Report: Spurs preparing offer for striker after holding preliminary talks

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik after the Serie A club slashed his price tag.

Despite some Spurs fans on social media panicking at the club’s failure to sign a suitable back up for Harry Kane before the start of the season, Jose Mourinho remained quite calm about the situation in his pre-match press conference and was confident that Spurs will get a deal over the line (Football.London).

Football Insider reveals that Milik is one option that the North Londoners have their eye on and that they have held preliminary talks with Napoli about a potential deal.

Gennaro Gattuso’s side have reportedly slashed their asking price for the Polish international from £46m to £32m, as they look to find a buyer for him.

The report claims that Juventus have held extensive talks with Napoli but have been unable to make progress on the deal, which has opened the door for Spurs.

It is said that Daniel Levy is now ready to test the waters with an offer for the 26-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I do suspect that Milik is the one Jose would prefer out of all the strikers we have been linked with, there is no chance that we are going to pay over £30m in the current market for a player with less than a year left on his contract.

One would expect Napoli to reduce their asking price the nearer we get to the transfer deadline. However, we need to bring in a striker as quickly as we can in order to cope with the nightmare schedule we have at the start of the season.
