Report: Spurs preparing opening offer for £20m-rated striker

Eurosport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing their opening offer for Southampton striker Danny Ings.

Ings is into the final 12 months of his deal at St Mary’s and the striker has reportedly turned down a new deal offered by Southampton.

Reports emerged last week that Spurs had made the 28-year-old their number one summer target after Nuno Espirito Santo asked the club to sign the Saints star.

It was claimed that Nuno wanted to employ a system with two strikers at Tottenham next season and that he believes Ings could play alongside Harry Kane.

Eurosport have now backed up that claim, revealing that the new Spurs boss wants to add another striker to his squad.

While Ings is said to be the man at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist, the North Londoners are also allegedly interested in Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne and Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic.

The report asserts that Southampton value Ings at £20m and that Spurs are set to test their resolve with an opening offer.

The North Londoners’ first bid is likely to be lower than £20m and it is expected that negotiations will then open up.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite Ings having only 12 months left to run on his contract, a deal for the 28-year-old will prove anything but straightforward.

Firstly, Southampton might not want to do business with Spurs due to the alleged bad blood between the two clubs.

Secondly, I do not see how Nuno or Paratici could convince the England international that he would get regular game time at Tottenham if Kane and Son both stay.
