Report: Spurs ‘pressing strongly’ for midfielder with 14 goal contributions this season

TuttoMercatoWeb have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak.

The summer transfer window looks set to be a busy one for Spurs, with Antonio Conte thought to want six new additions including two midfielders (Telegraph).

If TMW are to be believed, Barak is one of the names on the North London club’s radar.

The midfielder completed a permanent move to Verona last summer after impressing on loan at the club during the 2020/21 campaign.

Barak has taken his performances up another notch this season, having scored 10 goals and provided four assists in the Serie A so far (Transfermarkt).

TMW claim the attacking midfielder is ready to take a step up to a big European side, with Spurs ‘pressing strongly’ for him ahead of the summer.

The report adds that Tottenham managing director of football Fabio Paratici ‘seems ready to accelerate’ efforts to snap up the Czech Republic international.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that we need to sign an attacking midfielder to give Conte more flexibility in terms of the tactical set-up, with the likes of Ndombele and Lo Celso looking like they do not have futures at the club.

Conte and Paratici will know well of Barak’s attributes, given the pair’s expertise in Italian football but Eriksen might be Tottenham’s preferred choice, given the fact that the Dane understands Conte’s system and is available on a free transfer.
