Report: Spurs pursuing summer deal for 29-year-old Real Madrid star

According to a report in The Daily Star (28/02, p45), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez in the summer.

Vasquez has made over 150 appearances for Real Madrid since coming through the club’s academy set up.

The winger has been a key player for Zinedine Zidane this season, having made 18 appearances so far in La Liga and a further six appearances in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham were first linked with a move for the 29-year-old last summer, with a price of €16m (£14.5m) being mooted for the winger, while reports linking the North Londoners with the wide man once again resurfaced during the January transfer window.

The Daily Star now claims that Vazquez has rejected a new contract offered by Los Blancos and could be available on a free transfer in the summer.

Spurs are said to be exploring the possibility of signing the experienced winger while Everton are also said to be interested in the Spanish international’s services.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have plenty of wide options in the squad at the moment but one suspects that one or two of those would be moved on in the summer. Until a month ago, it seemed like Moura and Bale were the ones who were unlikely to be at Spurs next season. However, with both players picking up form (as well as Lamela), Bergwijn now looks likely to be the odd one out.
