Report: Spurs put on alert over availability of Bayern Munich star

According to a report in Bild (as relayed by Football.London), Tottenham have been put on alert with the news that Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be set to leave the German giants in the summer.

The report claims that the 28-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer of 2021, has been told he can leave at the end of the current campaign with one year still left on his deal.

It is suggested that Bayern are not pleased with the former Barcelona man’s performances this season, especially in big games.

Thiago has reportedly become quite a divisive figure at the club and the Bundesliga champions are said to be keen on moving him on.

It is claimed that if Thiago does leave at the end of the season after spending six and a half years at the club, he will have many potential suitors for his signature.

The report adds that Spurs could face competition for the midfielder’s signature from London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.

Spurs Web Opinion

We still lack a central midfielder with an ability to run a game like Thiago can. If he does become available in the summer, he could be a really smart signing given that he isn’t likely to cost a fortune due to his contract situation. However, with Gedson Fernandes now in North London, I am not sure we will move for another central midfielder anytime soon unless we move a couple of players on.
