Report: Spurs re-open talks with Belgian defender over new big-money deal

The future of the Tottenham defence seems uncertain at the moment with both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen in the final year of their respective contracts.

The Belgian pair have partnered each other at the heart of the Spurs back line for a number of years now and have become one of the best and most consistent pairings in world football.

A report by Football Insider now claims that Tottenham have re-opened talks with Toby Alderweireld over a new contract.

A source has told Football Insider that Spurs are offering Alderweireld a new three-year deal with £120,000 a week wages, more than doubling his current contract.

This would prevent Spurs from losing the centre-back on a free at the end of the season as they are currently set to do so.

Alderweireld has started every fixture so far this season in the Premier League and featured heavily in the pre-season tour.
