According to Turkish publication Fotospor (22/02/23 as translated by Sport Witness), Tottenham have reached an agreement with Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir regarding a summer transfer.
It is no secret that Spurs are on the lookout for Hugo Lloris’ successor, with the likes of Jordan Pickford (The Sun), David Raya (Daily Mail), Alex Meret (La Repubblica via Calcio Napoli 24) and Andre Onana (90 min) being mooted as targets for the North London club over recent weeks.
In an apparent twist, Fotospor have now revealed that Antonio Conte’s men have moved to secure the services of Bayindir.
The 24-year-old’s current contract at the Istanbul club runs out in the summer and it is explained that Fenerbahce were not willing to meet the goalkeeper’s contract demands.
Tottenham have reportedly offered Bayindir a salary of £1m excluding bonuses, with the Turkey international alleged to have ‘signed a gentleman’s agreement’ with the Lilywhites.
The publication adds that the Fenerbahce man will serve as Lloris’ understudy for a season or two before becoming Spurs’ number one.

Spurs fans should take this update with a pinch of salt as Turkish outlets like Fotospur are not the most reliable when it comes to transfer updates.
If there is some truth to this news, then Tottenham likely view Bayindir as a potential number two rather than as Lloris’ successor.
