Report: Spurs ready to listen to offers for striker this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to listen to offers for Kaziah Sterling this summer, according to Football Insider.

The striker has a year left to run on his contract in North London and was included on the club’s retained list of players. (Premier League)

The 21-year-old made two senior appearances under former manager Mauricio Pochettino, once as a substitute in Spurs’ Champions League group game against APOEL Nicosia in 2017 along with an appearance off the bench in the FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in 2018-19. (Wikipedia)

The young striker was then loaned out to Sunderland in January 2019 in the hope of achieving first-team minutes in the lower leagues. However, Sterling only made eight sub appearances in League One, scoring just once. (Transfermarkt)

Sterling returned to Spurs after his spell ended and was loaned to Doncaster Rovers in the at the start of the current campaign.

He appeared in Doncaster’s opening four games and scored his first goal for the club in an EFL Trophy tie against Lincoln City. However, Sterling suffered an injury and failed to feature from September to January which prompted Spurs to recall the 21-year-old. (Transfermarkt)

Just a few days later, Sterling signed for League Two outfit Leyton Orient on a six-month loan and hoped the young striker will finally gain some senior minutes under his belt. (BBC)

Sterling had the opportunity to impress Spurs when he was loaned out. However, the young striker failed to make any impression in the lower leagues. If he can’t cement a place in the League One or League Two side, then he is unlikely to be in Mourinho’s plans in the future.

The forward would also have to compete alongside Heung Min-Son, Steven Bergwijn and Troy Parrott to be recognised as a backup for Harry Kane. With just one year left on his contract, Spurs should look to move Sterling on.
