Report: Spurs ready to meet Serie A club’s valuation of centre-back in January

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to meet Torino’s asking price for central defender Gleison Bremer in January, Torino Granata have revealed.

Bremer has developed into one of the most promising centre-backs in Italian football since joining Torino from Atletico Minero back in 2018.

The Brazilian is alleged to be on Tottenham’s shopping list ahead of January, with previous reports claiming that the Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici has ‘the clear intention’ of bringing the 24-year-old to North London.

However, CalcioMercato revealed last week that Antonio Conte’s men face competition from the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan and AC Milan for Bremer, with Inter even thought to have spoken to Bremer’s representatives about a potential transfer.

Torino Granata have now stated that Torino do not want the central defender to run his contract down and are thus looking to cash in on him next month if a suitable offer comes their way.

The report claims that Tottenham are the frontrunners in the race for Bremer’s signature and the Lilywhites would be prepared to meet the Serie A club’s valuation of €20m (£17m).

Bremer would be a much better fit for what Spurs need compared to the likes of Skriniar and De Vrij. The Brazilian is well suited to playing in a back three and is still relatively young. He is also likely to be less expensive than other options since he has only a year and a half left on his contract.
