Report: Spurs ready to move for transfer target following Chelsea interest

Tottenham Hotspur are facing competition from rivals Chelsea in their reported interest in South Korean defender Kim Min-jae.

The Mirror claim that Spurs are set to step up their pursuit of the central defender after learning of Chelsea’s interest and are now preparing a move.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side during the summer transfer window with Football.London claiming in August that Spurs had had made serious enquiries with Chinese Super League outfit Beijing Guoan with the 23-year-old valued at £15million with just a year left to run on his current contract.

The report claims that Spurs had lined up the player nicknamed the ‘Monster’ as a replacement for Jan Vertonghen, but instead ended up moving for Swansea City’s Joe Rodon.

Despite the acquisition of the Welshman, it is said that Spurs are still keen to add another central defender to their ranks.

Beijing Guoan, who are managed by Slaven Bilic are reported to be ready to allow the 6ft 3in defender to leave in order to receive a transfer fee before he leaves as a free agent in December.
