Report: Spurs ready to offer £26m for Serie A midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer €30m (£25.6m) for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, according to a report from Sky Italia (as relayed by Sempre Inter).

Nandez has enjoyed two solid campaigns for Cagliari since arriving in Italian football from his native Argentina back in the summer of 2019.

The versatile midfielder, who has featured in a holding midfielder role, a box-to-box role, and on the right-flank, scored twice and registered three assists in the Serie A last season.

Sky Italia report that Tottenham are interested in the Uruguay international and are ready to pay Cagliari a loan fee of €10m (£8.5m) with an obligation to buy him at a further €20m (£17m).

The report reveals that Inter Milan have been closely pursuing Nandez but their negotiations with Cagliari have stalled.

While the Nerrazuri are still said to be interested in the midfielder, it is stated that they might not be able to match Spurs’ offer.

Journalist Francesco Porzio has also reported that Nandez is a ‘serious target’ for Tottenham and the North London club have opened talks to sign him.

Assuming Sissoko leaves, Nuno would still be left with six players in Skipp, Hojbjerg, Dele, Ndombele, Lo Celso, and Winks for three midfield positions.

So, if Spurs do move for another central midfielder over the next couple of weeks, that could mean that either Ndombele or Winks (or both) are leaving.
