Report: Spurs ready to offer 27-year-old to club in a part-exchange offer

The Telegraph have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer Harry Winks to Leicester City as part of any deal to sign James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

It was reported by The Daily Mail on Thursday that Spurs had submitted a combined offer in excess of £50m for Maddison and Barnes, who are thought to be in search of a new club following Leicester’s relegation.

However, the report explained that the bid falls short of the Foxes’ valuation and is expected to be turned down.

The Mail also added that Tottenham were far from alone in their admiration of the pair, with Newcastle also said to be eyeing the duo while Aston Villa and West Ham United are thought to be monitoring Barnes.

Harry Winks could be used as a Leicester makeweight

The Telegraph have now said that while Spurs have denied making the aforementioned £50m offer, the North London club do hold an interest in both the Leicester stars.

The publication asserts that the Lilywhites would be open to allowing Winks to move to the King Power Stadium as part of any deal for either or both Maddison and Barnes.

I doubt Winks would settle for a move to a Championship club.

Given the level of performances he delivered during the second half of the campaign for Sampdoria, one would expect several Serie A clubs, and potentially a couple of Premier League sides, to vie for his signature this summer.
