According to a report in Football Insider, Sheffield Wednesday are confident of striking a deal with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Joshua Onomah on a permanent basis.
The same publication reported in May that Wednesday had begun negotiating with Spurs over a permanent deal for the 22-year-old.
The midfielder had a disappointing season on loan with the Owls has he suffered multiple injuries and spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines. In fact, Onomah only made 15 appearances in the Championship last season, registering 3 assists.
However, Wednesday manager Steve Bruce, who also managed Onomah at Aston Villa the previous season during his loan spell in the Midlands, is reportedly keen on signing the central midfielder on a permanent transfer.
The report claims that the England Under-21 international is also keen to link up with Bruce again and that the Lilywhites will give a green light to the move as the youngster only has two years left on his contract.

It would be a real shame if Onomah ends up being sold, as great things were expected off him a couple of seasons ago. However, the 22-year-old has now reached an age where he ought to be playing regularly, and he certainly doesn’t look anywhere close to competing for a first-team spot at Spurs.
