Report: Spurs ready to reignite interest in 26-year-old centre-back

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a move for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet in January.

Reports over recent days have indicated that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are prioritising signing a central defender in January.

Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger, Inter Milan’s Stefan de Vrij and Torino’s Gleison Bremer have all been heavily linked with a move to Spurs in January.

However, if Romero is to be believed, Lenglet is another of the options on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.

The French international has been a mainstay in the Barca backline for the last three and a half years since joining from Sevilla.

The report reveals that Spurs made an offer for the 26-year-old in the summer but the defender was not keen on going to England at the time.

Romero reveals that Conte’s men are now ready to try again to snap up Lenglet in January.

We currently lack cover/competition for Ben Davies in the left-centre-back role and so I understand why that would be a priority for Conte. That is why the links to the likes of De Ligt and now Lenglet, make sense.
