Report: Spurs ready to treble midfielder’s salary if move is agreed

According to a report in Spanish publication Diario de Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur have told Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso that they are ready to treble his wages if he agrees on a move to North London this summer.

The report claims that Tottenham are still in negotiations with Betis over a potential transfer for the Argentine and are in no hurry to push the deal over the line quickly.

The publication has previously suggested that he is keen to make the switch to the Premier League to play under his compatriot Mauricio Pochetino.

It is stated that Betis are demanding around €75 million for the player they signed permanently this summer from PSG for around €22 million, plus three million following a successful loan spell last season (France 24).

According to WhoScored.com, the midfielder scored 9 goals and registered 4 assists for Betis in 32 La Liga appearances last season.

While Lo Celso would obviously improve Tottenham, the club are unlikely to pay around €70 million for the 23-year-old after just investing such a huge amount on Ndombele. With Eriksen’s future at the club still uncertain, it looks like we will have to wait a few more weeks to see how this Lo Celso saga progresses.
