Report: Spurs readying offer for Wolves winger after Nuno request

Italian journalist Pedro Almeida has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to raid Wolves for Daniel Podence this summer.

Podence, who came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon, made a name for himself in Greek football with Olympiacos before Wolves brought him in January of last year.

The winger showed glimpses of real quality in the second half of the 2019/20 season and it looked as though the 25-year-old was capable of being the next breakout Portuguese star at the West Midlands club.

However, Podence suffered multiple injuries in his first full season in the Premier League, thus being restricted to just 23 league appearances last time out, scoring three goals and registering two assists.

According to Almeida, Nuno has informed the Spurs hierarchy that he wants to reunite with the Portuguese international in North London.

Tottenham are said to be preparing a proposal for the winger after Nuno’s request, with the journalist claiming that the Lilywhites’ opening bid is expected to worth €25m-€27m (£21.2m-£22.9m).

We have not seen the best of Podence in the Premier League owing to the multiple injuries he has suffered since his move to the Molineux. Nuno would certainly know the winger’s qualities well but it remains to be seen if a bid of around £22m would be enough to convince Wolves to sell.
