Report: Spurs rebuff approach from Premier League side for £25m signing

According to a report by The Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur have knocked back an approach from Fulham to sign Ryan Sessegnon on loan.

Although there were signs prior to the lockdown that the youngster was starting to make some progress, he failed to play a single minute following the restart of the top flight.

Reports indicate that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff have been working with him behind the scenes on his defending (Football.London).

However, it has been suggested that the 21-year-old is frustrated at being frozen out of the first-team picture and is considering leaving the club (Evening Standard).

The Telegraph claimed that Fulham could try and re-sign Sessegnon on a temporary loan deal after winning promotion back to the Premier League.

The Mirror have now revealed that Scott Parker’s side have indeed made an approach to sign Sessegnon but they have been knocked back by Spurs.

The report suggests that Spurs have no intention of letting the England Under-21 international leave this summer nearly a year on from when he completed a £25million switch to the Champions League finalists (BBC).

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure why Jose would not want to loan Sessegnon out next season, given that he is unlikely to get game time for us, either at left-back or in a more advanced role. He could certainly do with getting some minutes under his belt in the Premier League. Perhaps the Spurs boss’ unwillingness to loan the youngster out is a sign that he wants to give him minutes in the Europa League next season.
