Report: Spurs receive potential £12.5m boost in rumoured pursuit of Gareth Bale deal

The Telegraph reported today that Real Madrid are now willing to pay 50 per cent of Gareth Bale’s 2020/21 wages in order to force him out of the club.

It is said that multiple Premier League clubs have already spoken to Real Madrid regarding players they are looking to offload, with Bale included in that list.

The Welshman currently has just two years left on his contract in Spain and Madrid allegedly regret blocking a transfer to China last year.

Goal have previously reported that Bale was set to earn £150m from his six-year contract at Real Madrid, meaning he rakes in around £25m per season.

If true, this would make for a £12.5m discount on Bale’s wages for Tottenham if they managed to bring him back to North London. The report implies that this would be a loan deal only.

Bale appeared 203 times for the Lilywhites between 2007 and 2013, scoring 55 goals in that time before moving to Real Madrid and winning four Champions League titles (Wikipedia).
