Report: Spurs recruitment team members ‘fighting for futures’ after Conte demand

Football Insider have revealed that Antonio Conte wants to take full control of Tottenham’s recruitment process ahead of the January transfer window, along with managing director of football, Fabio Paratici.

The report claims that Conte has been very critical to the club hierarchy of the signings made over recent years.

As a result, it is revealed that many longstanding members of the Spurs recruitment team are now fighting for their futures at the club.

The club’s technical performance director, Steve Hitchen, is not thought to be one of those whose future is at risk, thanks to the 44-year-old’s close relationship with Daniel Levy.

However, it is revealed that Hitchen faces being sidelined behind the scenes, with Conte and Paratici set to take charge of recruitment activities in January.

The report adds that while the Spurs head coach has full trust in Paratici, who he worked with previously at Juventus, he does not have the same faith in some members of the recruitment team.

Spurs Web Opinion

If true, this will be music to the ears of some Spurs fans, who do not seem to rate Hitchen very highly. I personally do not think we can really judge the 44-year-old’s work, given that we do not know the ins and outs of the recruitment process at the club. Paratici evidently seems to value Hitchen’s input.
