Report: Spurs refusing to give up on Zaniolo, Roma’s asking price revealed

90 min have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are refusing to give up on their pursuit of AS Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo.

Over the past couple of weeks, reports from Italy have indicated that Tottenham are battling Juventus for Zaniolo’s signature (TuttoSport).

90 min have now revealed that Spurs are continuing talks with Roma over a deal for the 23-year-old.

Following Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to the Giallorossi on Saturday, it is said that Fabio Paratici held a further round of talks with the Serie A club’s general manager Tiago Pinto regarding the Italy international.

It is also asserted that Spurs are ‘continuing to push’ for a transfer but Roma would only let Zaniolo leave for a fee over €50m (£41.7m) this summer.

90 min add that Antonio Conte plans on converting the Roma star into a wing-back if Spurs do snap him up.

Finally, the report states that while Juventus are still on Zaniolo’s trail, it is Spurs who are now the front-runners for the winger’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Tottenham do hold a serious interest in Zaniolo, given the number of different publications that have reported the same over recent days. However, I have an extremely hard time believing that Conte would convert Zaniolo into a wing-back.

I believe that the 23-year-old will compete with Kulusevski to play on the right if Spurs sign him, which is perhaps why Conte has experimented with Moura at right wing-back during pre-season.
