Report: Spurs reignite interest in international full back

With just a few days to go before the start of the season, Tottenham find themselves short of numbers in the right-back position

Kieran Trippier left the club to join Atletico Madrid while Juan Foyth, who impressed at right-back for Argentina in the Copa America, picked up an ankle injury during Tottenham’s pre-season game against Bayern Munich.

Serge Aurier has also only recently returned to training after undergoing hand surgery during the African Cup of Nations, which leaves Tottenham with Kyle Walker-Peters as the only fully fit option at right-back.

According to a report in by Algerian football experts, DZ Football, Tottenham might make a move for Nice defender Youcef Atal before the deadline.

The report claims that Tottenham were left impressed with Atal’s performances in the African Cup of Nations in the summer.

The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Spurs three months ago by the Telegraph and this latest report indicates that Spurs may have revived their interest in Atal.

Spurs Web Opinion

With just a few days of the transfer window left to go, this will look like a panic buy if the deal does go through. We believe Tottenham have enough options in right back in Aurier, Foyth, and Walker-Peters and must prioritise other areas before the close of the transfer window.
