Report: Spurs reignite pursuit of attacking player after Juventus talks broke down

Tottenham have reignited their interest in Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo after his proposed switch to Juventus broke down, according to 90min.

The two sides were unable to agree terms for Zaniolo with the Giallorossi blocking a loan swap which would have seen midfielder Arthur Melo join Jose Mourinho’s ranks.

But the development has allowed now Spurs back in the race for the 23-year-old with managing director Fabio Paratici currently in Italy holding talks with Roma about a transfer.

It comes after 90min also reported that Spurs are keen to offer players in an exchange for Zaniolo with Joe Rodon being named as a potential makeweight, as well as midfield outcast Tanguy Ndombele (Roma Giallorossa).

Bouncing back in his first full season back from a major knee injury, Zaniolo emerged as a key player in the club’s triumph in the inaugural Europa Conference League.

The versatile forward scored six goals in their trophy-winning campaign (Transfermarkt) as he was often deployed in a role alongside England striker Tammy Abraham.

Spurs Web Opinion

The links with Zaniolo don’t seem to go away and the latest update with Roma and Juventus has likely allowed Spurs back in the hunt.

Spurs are pretty full for attackers at the moment and it is difficult to see them spending a lot more on another one after bringing in Richarlison, but it could be one to monitor if they are able to negotiate the price down.
