Report: Spurs reject bid for first team defender

Tottenham Hotspur may achieve a top-four spot in the Premier League and a Champions League final still this season, but it has been an up-and-down campaign defensively.

Spurs have already lost a staggering 12 League games, and have experienced consistent issues down the right side of their defence.

Kieran Trippier has been unable to replicate his World Cup form for Spurs this season, and as a result, many reports indicate that he will be replaced come the summer, including a Daily Star article from today.

Spurs are also said to be interested in signing Crystal Palace breakthrough right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Sun), or promoted Norwich’s Max Aarons as a replacement (Daily Mail).

According to Di Marzio, Spurs have now turned down a bid from Italian side Napoli for Kieran Trippier.

The bid is said to be in the region of £17m, although Spurs are holding out for a Manchester United bid, which could bump the figure up to £30m (Daily Star).

Spurs Web Opinion:

Although I would be for keeping Trippier and selling Serge Aurier instead, I think Tottenham should be pushing hard for either Aarons or Wan-Bissaka this summer, no matter what. If funds must be raised by selling Trippier, or even Tripps and Aurier, then so be it. It is a big summer for Spurs, and they simply must push to bring in some quality young players in order to win titles.
