Report: Spurs reject opening bid from European giant for one of their starting stars

Sky Sports have reported that Tottenham Hotspur have now rejected an opening bid from AC Milan for right-back Serge Aurier this summer.

The report claims that Spurs and Milan are still ‘some way apart’ on their valuations of the former PSG man, although talks are continuing.

It is also noted that German side Bayer Leverkusen remain interested in the Ivory Coast international, although no official bid is mentioned.

Tottenham signed Serge Aurier from PSG three years ago, paying a fee of £23m, although the right-back now has just two years left on his contract in North London.

Aurier was a firm first choice for Jose Mourinho after the Special One took over last November, with the full-back featuring 42 times for Tottenham last season (Wikipedia).

In fact, 42 appearances in a single season was a career-best for Aurier, beating the 38 he played for Toulouse back in 2013/14.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs and AC Milan can agree on a price for the defender, or whether Leverkusen will swoop in with a bid of their own.
