Report: Spurs remain among host of clubs in race for Serie A star

Tottenham remain interested in signing Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard but are in a battle with a number of clubs in Italy for his signature, according to Tuttosport.

The Denmark international joined Sampdoria in February 2020, but put his name on centre stage with his displays at Euro 2020 over the summer.

Spurs were said to be interested in the winger during the summer transfer window and Tuttosport now claim the 21-year-old is on a host of target lists for sides across Europe, with Spurs still one of the teams holding an interest from abroad.

The Italian publication also report that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could face stiff competition from the likes of Inter and AC Milan, while Juventus also remain on the periphery.

The report claims the Milan rivals are ‘on the front row’ to make an enquiry for Damsgaard, though it appears as if nothing concrete will occur until the summer.

He is yet to open his account for Sampdoria so far this season, but has remained one of Roberto D’Aversa’s most important players.

Spurs Web Opinion

Damsgaard has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest talents following his performances for Sampdoria and Denmark over the last year, so it’s no surprise he is attracting a lot of attention.

If Spurs are going to make a move for him, they will have to fend off stiff competition from Italy’s biggest sides which won’t be an easy task.
