Report: Spurs remain interested in defensive midfield star ahead of summer window

Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho may be looking for reinforcements this summer, as the Special One puts his own mark on the Lilywhites squad.

One problem position for the North London club has been defensively midfield, with Mousa Dembele having left last January, while Victor Wanyama also exited Spurs this season.

Eric Dier is arguably the only defensive midfielder left at the club, with the likes of Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Oliver Skipp, and co able to cover there too.

However, Sky Sports have now reported that Tottenham remain keen on Valencia defensive midfielder, Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The Spurs chief scout, Steve Hitchin, is said to be a long-term admirer of Kondogbia and has been watching him since 2017 as a potential Dembele replacement.

Kondogbia is apparently high on Tottenham’s summer transfer list, despite the fact that scouting missions have been halted by the coronavirus. Mourinho has reportedly wanted to add a new defensive midfielder since January.
