Report: Spurs remain keen on 26-year-old playmaker who is also on Arsenal’s radar

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt this summer, according to German news outlet DW.

The 26-year-old has scored nine and assisted five goals in 32 matches across all competitions to help Dortmund to be just two points adrift of Bayern Munich who currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga table (transfermarkt).

The attacking midfielder is set to be out of contract at Signal Iduna Park come the end of next season and has also been linked with a move to north London rivals Arsenal (Caught Offside).

Brandt revealed in January that while he is comfortable at the club, he left his future open when asked about his plans.

He told Sport1: “I have never had a career plan, so I can’t answer that question. Everything is open for me. I feel comfortable here, but who knows where the wind will blow us.

“If everything goes well here, I would be very happy to extend my contract. But anything can happen. That’s why it’s difficult to make an assessment.”

This season has once again proven that Tottenham lack a creative spark in their side with too much reliance put on the shoulders of Harry Kane to make things happen.

The void left by Christian Eriksen has not been filled and it is still baffling as to why club did not push harder to try to bring him back to north London last summer when he was available on a free transfer after his contract at Brentford expired.

Dortmund are reported to be keen on keeping Brandt at the club, but interest from the Premier League pair could prove to make their job more difficult to persuade him to remain in Germany.
