Report: Spurs remain keen on pacy Championship youngster

According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Phil Hay, Tottenham are still interested in securing the services of Leeds United winger Jack Clark this summer.

The journalist revealed in a tweet that Spurs still wish to sign the 18-year-old but indicated that they are unlikely to meet Leeds United’s valuation of the youngster.

He wrote regarding Spurs’ interest in Clarke, “They’re very interested but not convinced they’ll stretch to Leeds’ valuation.”

The 18-year-old broke into the Leeds first team last season and featured 24 times for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. He impressed everybody with his pace and directness, scoring two goals and assisting two others.

It was reported last month by the Daily Mail that Tottenham made a £10m bid for Clarke with Mauricio Pochettino seeing great potential in the teenager.

However, another report by the same publication later claimed that Leeds United were determined to hold on to the teenager and were unlikely to let him go for less than £20million this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

We believe the club needs to sign world class talent this summer in order to help take us to the next level, and that continuing to sing youngsters with potential is not going to help Tottenham challenge Manchester City and Liverpool. However, if Pochettino feels that he can develop Clarke into a top player, then the club obviously needs to back him.
