Report: Spurs set to return with one last effort to sign top midfield target

Tottenham Hotspur and Real Betis have been locked in negotiations for midfielder Giovani Lo Celso since the start of the summer but the two clubs haven’t been able to agree on a fee so far (Marca).

This is despite Lo Celso agreeing on personal terms with the North London club several weeks ago (Estadio Deportivo).

It was reported a few days ago that Betis were growing frustrated at Tottenham’s negotiating tactics and unwillingness to pay the asking price and thus ended talks with the North London club (ABC Sevilla).

However, Marca now reports that the Lilywhites are making one final push for the 23-year-old midfielder today.

The report claims that Spurs are determined to land the Argentina international and will make one last improved offer in the hopes of appeasing the La Liga club.

It is suggested that the ball will then be firmly in the court of Betis president Angel Haro who will have to either take it or leave it.

Spurs Web Opinion

It appears that Tottenham do have alternatives lined up if the move for Lo Celso fails in the last moment. We at Spurs Web believe that it is absolutely essential that we sign him as he appears to be at the top of Pochettino’s wishlist. It looks like anything can happen in the final 24 hours of the transfer window.
