Report: Spurs reveal that one person at club has received positive test for COVID-19

Tottenham Hotspur have revealed that one person at the club has received a positive COVID-19 test result today.

The North London side claim that the Premier League informed them of the result after the latest round of testing at Hotspur Way this week.

This comes exactly two weeks before the Premier League is set to restart on June 17, although Tottenham will likely not be in action until the weekend of the 20th and 21st.

The Lilywhites face a tough match against Manchester United, one that will likely prove to be pivotal in the race for the top four.

Tottenham have not disclosed the name of the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 due to medical confidentiality. Therefore, it could be a member of staff or player.

The person in question is said to be asymptomatic and will be required to self-isolate for seven days before undergoing another test.

Spurs claimed that they would continue to follow Premier League guidance in their statement:

‘We have been informed by the Premier League that we have received one positive test for COVID-19 following the latest round of testing at our Training Centre.

‘Due to medical confidentiality, the individual’s name will not be disclosed.

‘They are currently asymptomatic and will now self-isolate for seven days, in line with Premier League protocol, before undergoing further testing.

‘We shall continue to strictly adhere to the Premier League’s Return to Training protocol, which ensures our Training Centre remains a safe and virus-free working environment.’
