Tottenham Hotspur have revealed that they have donated £100,000 to North Middlesex University Hospital as a thank you to the healthcare workers for their brave and tireless work during the pandemic.
Spurs confirmed that the money was taken from the fines the club issued to players that breached COVID-19 guidelines over the festive period.
Back in December, Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon were pictured together in a Christmas party with eleven other adults, two children and a baby.
That was a clear violation of the lockdown rules which prohibit households in tier four from mixing.
Tottenham released a statement condemning their players’ antics and also issued a fine to all three players involved.
The North Londoners have now confirmed that the amount Lamela, Reguilon and Lo Celso were fined has been donated to the North Middlesex University Hospital.
Jose Mourinho has hailed the gesture and admitted that the trio were happy to pay their fines when they knew that it would be donated to the hospital.
