Report: Spurs run into a problem with their efforts to sign German international

According to the latest reports from Germany, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to convince Robin Koch about a move to North London despite the defender being on the club’s wish-list.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the central defender during the January transfer window (Record via Sport Witness) and have been backed to make another attempt to sign him this summer (O Jogo).

Freiburg manager, Christian Streich has admitted that the 23-year-old could be on his way out at the end of the season due to the club’s financial problems (Sky Sports in Germany via Fussball News).

Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in the versatile defender, who is reportedly available for around €10 million this summer (Bild via BuliNews).

Sport 1 have now installed Jose Mourinho’s side as the leading contenders for the German international’s signature.

However, the report claims that Koch still prefers to stay in the Bundesliga and continue developing in his home country rather than moving to a foreign club.

While there is no doubting Koch’s technical quality, the main question mark regarding the 23-year-old is if he can handle the physicality and intensity of the Premier League. It could be the defender’s versatility that potentially appeals to Jose Mourinho as he can also cover in defensive midfield if needed.
