Report: Spurs said to be interested in signing 22-year-old central defender

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in securing the services of Leeds United loanee Ben White in the January transfer window.

White is on loan at Leeds from Brighton and has been impressing in the Championship so far this season.

The defender, who hasn’t played at a level higher than League One until this season (apart from two EFL outings for Brighton), has been one of the Elland Road outfit’s best player this campaign as they strive for promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side boasts an impressive defence record this campaign and White has been an important part of that having featured in every game for Leeds (transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old has not only shown that he has the combativeness required to play in a physical league like the Championship but has also proven that he is extremely adept at playing the ball out from defence.

The youngster’s performances at Elland Road this campaign have also reportedly attracted the attention of Chelsea and Liverpool.

Spurs Web Opinion

White looks like a fantastic talent with a big future in the game. However, it is anybody’s guess how well he will be able to cope with the Premier League as it is a level above what he is used to. I am not convinced that the youngster has more potential than Juan Foyth and so I don’t believe this is a move we need to make.
