Report: Spurs said to be keen on signing Croatian who idolises Modric

According to a report by Sassuolo News, Tottenham are interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb starlet Edin Julardzija and could make a move for him in the summer.

Julardaija, who currently plays for the club’s under-18 side, is said to be held in high regard at the Croatian giants.

Like former Spurs star Luka Modric, Julardaija is reportedly being tipped to reach the highest level.

The 18-year-old has revealed in the past that idolises the Ballon D’Or winner who had four fantastic seasons at White Hart Lane before moving on to Real Madrid in the summer of 2012.

Julardaija told 24Sata: “I wore (Modric’s) jerseys on the playground. Luka Modric is amazing, the best in the world.”

The report in 24Sata also revealed that the youngster had rejected an offer to join Chelsea’s youth set up back in 2014, deciding to stay with Dinamo instead.

However, it is suggested that the Lilywhites could face competition for the youngster’s signature in the summer with Spurs’ Noth London rivals’ Arsenal as well as Italian duo Roma and Sassuolo both said to be keen on the youngster.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on our recent signings as well as the players we are being linked with, it seems very much apparent that the club seem intent on sticking with their policy on investing in young players who have potential to improve in the future rather than established stars. It is certainly a departure from the way Mourinho has tended to work in his previous jobs and it will be interesting to see how he adapts to it.
