Report: Spurs said to be leading the way for Serie A striker

Tottenham Hotspur are said to have moved to the front of the queue to land Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik.

Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport revealed in the print edition of Tuesday’s edition (9/9) that the forward is in the middle of a complexed transfer situation (as translated by Sport Witness).

Milik has been the subject of interest from Roma who had planned to send Cengiz Under to Naples as part of an agreement. However the situation has been complicated by Edin Dzeko’s future in Rome.

Dzeko, who has been linked with a move to Serie A champions Juventus has seen transfer negotiations almost grind to a halt recently which could stop Roma from landing Milik.

Napoli have instead decided to look abroad for a potential suitor to take the 26-year-old with Tottenham now described to be leading the way.

Milik is out of contract at Napoli next summer and has reportedly already told the club that he does not want to sign a new deal which could see the Pole leave on a free transfer in just under twelve months time (Express).
