Report: Spurs scouting Bundesliga midfielder ahead of summer window

90 min have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are among a whole host of Premier League clubs who have their eye on Union Berlin midfielder, Rani Khedira, who is the younger brother of German World Cup winner, Sami.

Union Berlin have been the surprise package of the Bundesliga season so far, currently sitting just three points behind league leaders, Bayern Munich.

Khedira’s consistent displays in midfield are one of the reasons behind their success this season, with the 29-year-old having started all but one league game so far (Transfermarkt).

90 min have revealed that his performances have not gone unnoticed, with several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, monitoring him closely.

The report states that scouts from Tottenham, Everton, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham and Wolves were in attendance for Union’s 3-1 win against Ajax in the second leg of their Europa League knockout round play-off on Thursday to watch the former RB Leipzig star in action.

Rani Khedira is a late bloomer, having taken his game to a different level over the last 18 months since his switch to Union.

While it is not surprising that Premier League clubs are looking at him closely, I would be surprised if he was near the top of Conte’s and Paratici’s wishlist for the summer.

Spurs will have to aim a lot higher than the 29-year-old if we are to upgrade on the midfielders already at the club.
