Report: Spurs scouts watched French international in action on Tuesday

90min have claimed that scouts from Tottenham were in attendance to watch Bayern Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby in action against Atletico Madrid earlier this week.

Tottenham endured a disappointing night on Tuesday after they fell to their first loss of the season at the hands of Sporting.

While Antonio Conte’s men endured a difficult outing in Portugal, it appears that representatives from the north London club were busy elsewhere in Europe running the rule over a potential transfer target.

According to 90min, scouts from Spurs were spotted in attendance at the Bay Arena on the same evening as Leverkusen overcome Atletico Madrid 2-0 in a Champions League group B clash.

The player that the Lilywhites were reportedly watching was Diaby, who scored the Bundesliga club’s second goal in the night to put the game beyond their La Liga opponents.

The French international hit the limelight with his displays last season, finishing the 2021/22 campaign with 17 goals and 14 assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

However, the report suggests that Spurs were not the only Premier League club watching Diaby, with representatives from Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United also thought to have been present at the match.

Although Diaby did have a good outing against Diego Simeone’s men on Tuesday, he has not had the best of starts to the season. Unless the 23-year-old turns around his form over the coming weeks and months, last campaign will be viewed by many as being a flash in the pan.
