Report: Spurs send scouts to watch Mexican international ahead of January window

According to 90min, Tottenham Hotspur are one of a host of Premier League clubs who have sent their scouts to Mexico to watch Cruz Azul winger, Orbelin Pineda.

Pineda has been one of the most highly-rated talents in Mexican football for many years and the report reveals that he rejected a move to Manchester City in 2016, instead deciding to swap Guadalajara for Cruz Azul in a deal worth over £10m.

Four years on, it is said that the 24-year-old is now willing to leave Liga MX and prove himself in Europe.

However, Spurs are not the only team to send their scouts to watch the winger, with the likes of Arsenal, Wolves, Everton, Southampton, Newcastle and West Ham also said to be running the rule over the wide man.

Meanwhile, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Porto and Monaco are also said to be showing interest in Pineda.

The report also reveals that the winger’s contract with Cruz Azul runs out in December 2021, which suggests that he is unlikely to carry a hefty price tag.
