Report: Spurs sent scouts to watch Serie A star over the weekend

Sassuolo News have revealed that scouts from Tottenham were present at the Mapei Stadium over the weekend to watch midfielder Davide Frattesi in action.

Frattesi’s stock has grown considerably over the last 12 months and the midfielder was rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar during the summer transfer window (Gazzetta).

However, he stayed put at Sassuolo and has made an impressive start to the new campaign, with reports continuing to link the 23-year-old with a move to bigger clubs.

Calciomercato claimed this week that a move to the Premier League is on the cards for Frattesi in January, with Tottenham being named as a potential destination for the player.

The report also asserted that both Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are fans of the Italy international.

If Sassuolo News’ latest update is to be believed, representatives from Tottenham were present to run the rule over Frattesi during Sassuolo’s 2-1 loss at home to Inter Milan on Saturday.

The Spurs scouts would have been impressed with what they saw from the midfielder, who scored the equaliser for the home side in the 60th minute before Eden Dzeko netted the match-winner on 75 minutes to give the Nerazzurri all three points.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given Paratici’s expertise in Italian football, it comes as no surprise that the Spurs managing director is keeping a close eye on Frattesi, who is fast emerging as one of the most talented midfielders in the Serie A.

However, I do not think a central midfielder of the Sassuolo star’s mould should really be a priority for Spurs in January as we are well-stocked in that area of the pitch.
