Report: Spurs sent scouts to watch winger in CL action on Tuesday

According to the print edition of O Jogo (as relayed by Sport Witness), scouts from Tottenham were in attendance at Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday to watch Porto winger Luis Diaz in action.

Diaz had an impressive campaign for Porto last season, registering 11 goals and six assists in all competitions and he subsequently lit up the Copa America over the summer, scoring four goals in five matches for Colombia, who finished in third place.

Following his Copa America showing, Tottenham were credited with an interest in the 25-year-old during the summer transfer window.

However, Diaz ended up staying put at Porto and he has continued his sensational run of form at the start of the season.

The winger was the star of the show for the Portuguese club on Tuesday, netting the match-winner in their 1-0 win over AC Milan, which was his 7th strike in 11 matches this campaign.

O Jogo claim that scouts from Tottenham were in attendance to watch Diaz put in a Man of the Match display against Milan, along with scouts from clubs across Europe.

The report goes on to add that Porto will be ‘ready to sell him for a big fee next year’.

Spurs Web Opinion

In hindsight, it seems like Tottenham might have made a mistake by not pushing the envelope for Diaz during the summer transfer window.

His value is likely to have gone up considerably on the back of his performances at the start of the season, and there are likely to be a lot more suitors for his signature in January.
