Report: Spurs set for talks with 24-year-old right-back

Football Insider claim that Tottenham Hotspur are set to step up their interest in Timothy Castagne, with the club now ready to hold talks over a potential summer transfer.

Castagne has been one of the right-backs on Spurs’ radar on the back of three solid seasons for Atalanta since moving from Genk in 2017 (Le10Sport).

The versatile defender has not only broken into the Belgian national team but established himself as one of the best wing-backs in Serie A.

The 24-year-old, who only has one year left to run on his contract with Atalanta, has admitted that he is looking for a new challenge and would find it difficult to turn down a move to Spurs (La Derniere Heure in Belgium via TEAMtalk).

Football Insider claim that the Lilywhites are continuing to keep close tabs on the defender and are now set to hold talks with those close to Castagne.

The report suggests that the Atalanta star is also generating interest from other Premier League clubs but Tottenham are said to be the front runners for his signature.

I believe Castagne perfectly fits the bill in terms of what we need. His ability to time his late forward runs smartly and his fantastic delivery would make him a considerable upgrade over Aurier for the right wing-back role. The fact that he only has a year left on his contract means that Castagne would likely not be too expensive either.
