Report: Spurs set for transfer tug of war with European giant for club-record deal

Tottenham Hotspur are set to go head to head with Juventus in a battle for the signature of Tanguy Ndombele.

The Daily Star are reporting that Juventus are ready to step up their interest in the Lyon midfielder with the upcoming appointment of new manager Maurizio Sarri who could be announced as the man in charge within the next 48 hours.

The 22-year-old has attracted interest from across Europe but with Manchester City and Manchester United now looking elsewhere, it looks as if it is between Spurs and Juventus to go to war.

The report claims that Spurs were prepared to offer a club record fee of £50million to land the French international, however Juventus have informed the Ligue 1 outfit that they will go as high as £60million.

Lyon are holding out for as much money as possible since they must give 20 per cent of the transfer fee to Ndombele’s former club, Amiens.

Ndombele is said to favour a move to the Premier League but with the two clubs still some way off an agreement, supporters will be hoping that Mauricio Pochettino can persuade Daniel Levy to stump up the cash and sign the player who would help to transform our midfield.

He has impressed this season with his performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, making 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and contributing eight assists.
