Report: Spurs set sights on Euro 2020 star and former academy starlet

The Evening Standard have revealed that Tottenham could look to bolster their wide areas after striking a deal with Atalanta for Cristian Romero.

Romero is the third player expected to arrive through the doors at Spurs this summer following the club’s capture of Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil last month.

Standard Sport reveal that the Lilywhites have now set their sights on a winger, with Mikkel Damsgaard and Noni Madueke thought to be on their wishlist.

Damsgaard shot into the limelight with his impressive displays for Denmark at the Euros but he was mooted as a target for Spurs even before the start of the tournament.

Reports from Italy indicate that Sampdoria’s valuation of the 21-year-old has risen to £35m on the back of his showing at the Euros.

Meanwhile, Madueke came through the ranks at Spurs, making his debut for the club’s Under-18s when he was just 15 years of age

The winger rejected Tottenham’s contract offer and decided to join PSV Eindhoven in 2018 and the 19-year-old established himself as a regular in the Eredivisie giants’ starting eleven last season, finishing the campaign with 9 goals and 8 assists.

If Standard Sport are to be believed, Spurs are now exploring the possibility of bringing the teenager, who is valued at £20m by PSV, back to the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Those at Spurs know well of Madueke’s qualities and they clearly believe that he could explode on the big stage over the next few years.

The 19-year-old will likely be significantly cheaper than Damsgaard after the Sampdoria star’s showing in the Euros.

If Nuno and Paratici do want to bring in another wide player, I suspect it means they are prepared to cash in on Bergwijn.
