Report: Spurs set to battle Arsenal for RB Leipzig attacker who shone in CL clash

Tottenham Hotspur were well beaten in their Champions League round of 16 knockout match against RB Leipzig in this season’s competition.

Last year, Spurs sailed through against Borussia Dortmund, beating the German outfit 3-0 at home and 1-0 away.

This season, RB Leipzig recorded the exact same results home and away against the Lilywhites, with one player in particular catching the eye during the second leg at the Red Bull Arena.

As Spurs pushed for an away goal on Tuesday night, Leipzig were able to easily soak up the pressure and break on the Lilywhites.

Within 25-minutes, the home side had scored twice and the tie was over, with both strikes coming from midfield man, Marcel Sabitzer.

It appears to now be a case of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’, as Spurs are reportedly set to battle Arsenal to sign Sabitzer in the summer (CalcioMercato).

The 25-year-old has 15 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season, and is currently valued at £36m by TransferMarkt.
